I’ve begun to feel the flutter of wings – or rather, baby feet – in my stomach. It seems early, but I’m told that can happen when it’s not your first pregnancy.
It took a few times for me to realize what it was I was actually feeling. With all the various pains, pulls, and general discomforts you feel in pregnancy, I didn’t realize right away that some of what I was feeling was actually the baby moving. Some days I feel a quick sensation like a butterfly swooping from one side to the other. Other days it’s more of a worm-like crawling feeling. And still other days, I can feel bubbles popping.
But, recently…recently…I’ve started to feel actual kicks every now and then. They’re not consistent yet, but they’re coming more often. Sometimes, I feel a combination of things. Like last night. First a small kick, then a crawl, and another kick.
The baby movements seem to come around especially after eating. I’ve noticed that my baby has a special love for chocolate milk – just like his or her mami.
Unfortunately, though the husband has been able to feel some of the crawling movement, it’s still not consistent enough for him to feel it every time. And, our baby girl hasn’t been able to feel any of the movement yet. Hopefully, soon, the movements will be stronger and more consistent so that both of them can feel them better.
I forgot just how funny and exciting feeling the movements can be. Sometimes, they take me by complete surprise and you’ll hear me shout out. Once, I felt an actual tickle and out of nowhere, there I was giggling to myself.
Soon, we’ll get to see our baby again and hopefully find out if we’re having a boy or a girl. In just 11 days, we’ll be having our 18-week sonogram; something all of us are anxiously waiting for, particularly baby girl. She just can’t wait to see her baby brother or sister!
