Entertaining a 3 Month Old

It’s unbelievable, but baby boy is already 3 ½ months old! He’s a big boy and is very “talkative” too. It’s fun to see babies go through the various stages of development. While, in the beginning, baby boy used to sleep a lot, nowadays he’s much more alert and requires more attention and entertainment. But, what kind of entertainment can you give a 3 month old that isn’t able to sit up, roll over, or crawl yet?

There’s also the fact that he’s still considered too young to be out and about a lot. In fact, in both my husband’s and my culture, people normally don’t even take the baby outside the home for the first time until after 3 months! Of course, we’ve been flexible with that tradition, but we’re still careful with where we take him and for how long.

It’s actually quite convenient that these spring days don’t always have great weather. The past two days in particular have been full of lots of rain and nasty thunderstorms. Needless to say, we’ve been inside the house a lot. So, it’s nice that I was able to find some new toys for baby boy at my local Walmart store.

Since baby boy has begun drooling like crazy and wanting to chew on everything, I’ve been wanting to get him one of those books with chewable ends. I also got him a cute musical bear (the boy still loves anything to do with bears), an animal-noise farm house, and a new musical bar for his car seat – for those occasions when we do indeed have to leave the house.

The funny thing is that my 5-year-old is more excited about these toys than baby boy himself. She asked to open the toys right away and often plays with them in the guise of “showing” them to him. At least she helps with entertaining baby boy if either daddy or I are busy for a bit.

What fun things do you do with your babies or young children when stuck inside the house?
