Breastfeeding

When my daughter was born, we had no problems with breastfeeding. She latched on right away and was great about eating. We kept it up for 4 months; not as long as I would have liked, but circumstances at the time deemed it so.

However, there are plenty of women who have a variety of issues with breastfeeding and need the help of a lactation consultant. I’m not exactly sure what they do, since I never had to speak with one, but am glad they are there to help these women at the beginning.

One well-known lactation consultant, Freda Rosenfeld, recently spoke with CBS News Medical Correspondent, Dr. Jennifer Ashton, about the challenges of breastfeeding.  During their conversation, they discuss how to resolve the most common issues, and provide tips and advice to new mothers who are nursing. You can view the interview from the Health and Wellness webcast below.
