By now you may already know the news that our baby boy was born back in December! It’s been almost two months already and I’m just finally getting into a pseudo-routine that is allowing me to get back to work. So, forgive me for not posting the news until now.
Our baby boy was born a healthy (and big!) 9 lbs. 1 oz. He eats well – a little too well if you ask me – and continues to grow strong. He’s been lifting his head up pretty well for a couple of weeks and is now able to hold it up for longer lengths of time. The best thing at this point is that he’s smiling when we come around or play with him! That little toothless smile is the best!
It’s interesting to observe him and see what catches his interest. Some of his favorite things so far include:
- ceiling fans
- lights
- blinds
- our wall-mounted speakers
- the teddy bear mobile on his pack n’ play
- holding someone’s hand when falling asleep – this really soothes him
- big sister’s voice
Speaking of the big sister, she’s in love with her little brother (LB as she calls him). She loves to talk to and “play” with him as much as he’ll stand these days. We continually remind her that he won’t play much at this point and to give him a few months, but alas, she is persistent. Baby boy does love to listen to her talk, so it’s perfect for her to read him stories and sing songs.
Our family is slowly adjusting to the new dynamics of being a family of four and no longer a family of three. It’s taking us some work, of course, but we’re managing and getting better at it each day. I suppose my husband and I had a small case of amnesia after five years of having only baby girl – we forgot how much work it is to have a baby in the house! We wouldn’t have it any other way, though. We’re really loving being a family of four.
